2cupsshelled walnuts
3tablespoonmaple syrup
¼cupcocoa powder
1tsp sea salt
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spread walnuts in an even layer on a large baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes to lightly toast then cool.
Transfer cooled nuts to a large bowl with a lid. Drizzle maple syrup over walnuts. Add cocoa powder and salt.
Place lid on bowl and shake well to coat.
Return coated nuts back to the baking sheet. Leave on the counter to dry for about 1 hour or place baking sheet in oven on the lowest possible temperature. Check after 10-15 minutes. The nuts should no longer be sticky to the touch.
Transfers walnuts to an airtight container for storage.
Notes
Watch walnuts closely while roasting. Only bake as long as needed to lightly toast and enhance flavor. They go from being perfectly roasted to over fairly quickly resulting in a slightly burnt bitter flavor.
