There's no need for store bought chocolate coconut water. This Copycat Chocolate Coconut Water is made with 5 ingredients, has no refined sugar and tastes great.

Memorial Day is the unofficial kick off to summer, that means more time spent outside and hotter temperatures. It's vitally important to stay hydrated as the temperatures rise and a great way to do that is by drinking coconut water.

Have you tried Zico Chocolate Coconut Water? It tastes pretty amazing, but it can get expensive and then there's the packaging. We're not fans of individual serving sizes. So, we came up with our own homemade version. This Chocolate Coconut Water is seriously delicious, chocolatey, creamy, naturally sweetened, and perfect for staying hydrated on a hot day.

Ingredients

Coconut water is a great option for replenishing potassium levels after a long day outdoors or a vigorous workout. It's also a good source of vitamin C which is great for the skin especially after being out in the sun.

  • coconut water
  • coconut milk
  • cacao or cocoa powder
  • maple syrup
  • salt

See recipe card below for quantities.

Instructions

The drink is super simple to make. Everything goes into a blender until thoroughly mixed then chill before serving.

Equipment

You will need a blender to make this drink. Nothing fancy, any model will do. You could also use a jar with a lid and thoroughly shake to incorporate the ingredients if you don't have a blender.

Storage

Store any leftovers in a cup or jar with a lid in the refrigerator. Good for 1-2 days.

I have only made it once now, and it wasn’t bad. I will be adjusting next time because it was WAY too chocolatey for me (and I love chocolate). I used Hershey’s cocoa powder. I’m going to increase all other ingredients and do a level scoop of cocoa powder. We’ll see. Thank you for sharing this recipe! Chocolate Zico water disappeared ):

Thanks for trying the recipe and leaving a comment. I use a raw cacao powder so maybe there is a difference in chocolaty-ness between that and Hershey's. And everyone's tastes are different. Hope you enjoy it more with the tweaks you plan to make 🙂

Love love love this recipe! Made it with coconut cream as that was all I had on hand, soo creamy !
I also subbed half the maple syrup for stevia to lower the sugar a tad. And yes with the raw cacao the ratio was perfect 👌🏻
