Creamy, sweet, and nutrient dense, this Kid Friendly Green Smoothie is perfect for little ones who hate to eat greens!

If you have a little one who gives you that look, you know the one, every time greens make it onto their plate, smoothies like this one are great! This creamy, dreamy, and totally Kid Friendly Green Smoothie are a great way to ensure the whole family get theirs greens in. The flavor and sweetness of the fruit makes even bitter greens like kale nearly undetectable aside from the color.

What's the deal with Hemp seeds? While it's true these little seeds are from the cannabis plant, there's no need to worry about getting the kids or yourself high as the seeds do not contain enough of the compound to produce the effect. These little seeds are however nutrition powerhouses, packed with healthy fats including omega 3 and omega 6, minerals, fiber, and even protein. One serving has 10 grams of complete protein, meaning it contains all amino acids including the 9 our bodies can't produce.

As for the flavor, hemp seeds have a mild nutty flavor that my kids like. Besides smoothies, we also like to mix them in with oatmeal and sprinkle some over salads.

Make it your own

This recipe is really just a basic smoothie template. Make it your own by switching up what greens you use. Also, feel free to switch up the fruit you use. Mango is a favorite around our house, but almost any fruit will work.

  • Greens - try kale, spinach, Swiss chard or microgreens, etc.
  • Fruit - try mango, strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, peaches, etc.
  • Non dairy milk - instead of non dairy milk you can use coconut water or plain water.
  • Hemp seeds - instead of hemp seeds you can use other seeds, nuts or nut butters such as almond, sunflower seed or cashew.

I have two kiddos who love smoothies in any form and one who only likes them thick, but slurp-able so I always use frozen fruit with less milk, but you can always adjust the consistency to your family's liking by using fresh fruit and/or more liquid.

Equipment

You'll need a good blender to make this smoothie. A high speed model will yield the best result.
