Cool off on a hot summer day with this refreshing, hydrating Watermelon Basil Slush. Made with just 2 ingredients and no added sugar so it's healthy too!
The weather is warming up and that means all I want is something cool and refreshing to drink. That’s where this Watermelon Basil Slush comes in. I’ve seen quite a few recipes with watermelon and basil (most with cheese) used together before, but for some reason had never tried the flavor combination. Probably because watermelon is so tasty all on it’s own.
The family was a little skeptical, but willing to give it a try. We were surprised by just how delicious it is. My husband does not like watermelon, which I just can’t understand. But when paired with the basil he actually liked it. My oldest loved it while my youngest didn’t care for it with the basil. Though to be fair she is three and can be a little picky at times. With or without the basil this drink screams summer time and I for one will be enjoying it again and again.
We also love this drink as well as this one, both are perfect for summer!
ingredients

instructions
Simply freeze half of your fruit and chill the other half in the refrigerator. Toss all the fruit and how ever much basil you like into the blender. There’s no need to add any liquids since watermelon is mostly water, there is enough liquid to get everything slushy. In about a minute you’ll be sipping on this surprisingly delicious and refreshing summery drink.
variations
- Herbs - try fresh mint instead of basil
- Flavors - add fresh squeezed lime or lemon juice and omit herbs
- Adults only - add rum or vodka for cocktails
