Fudgy and so delicious, this Chocolate Banana Peanut Butter Cake is made with just 9 simple ingredients. It's vegan, oil free and much lower in sugar than most cakes.
Today's recipe is the result of some late evening baking a couple of weeks ago. I went into the kitchen without a plan really and looked around for what was available spotting a couple of very ripe bananas. One of my kiddos' favorite snacks is banana sliced with peanut butter so I went with that flavor combo and of course chocolate makes everything better so I reached for that as well. That's how this Chocolate Banana Peanut Butter Cake came to be and it turned out so well the family insisted the recipe be shared here.
I had trouble deciding whether to call these brownies or cake because it's really somewhere in between the two. It's a bit fudgy, but also a bit cakey in texture. Ultimately, I decided to go with cake since the texture is not as fudgy as we prefer our brownies and the longer it bakes the more cake like it becomes. So, if you like a more fudgy texture go with the lower end of the bake time like I did or bake it a bit longer for more a cake like texture.
The great thing about this cake is how simple the ingredient list is, just 9 common ingredients you likely have in the pantry. Simple recipes with uncomplicated ingredients are truly the best and make veganism much more approachable. That is the goal, of course, to help more people see just how easy and tasty it can be to leave animal products behind. I mean look at this luscious batter. You can just tell it's going to be delicious.
My family loves this cake and I hope you will to!
