Anyone else find themselves with leftover bags of fresh cranberries after Thanksgiving? Maybe you went a little overboard stocking up and are now looking for a delicious way to use these tart little berries up besides the typical sauce?

If so, this Simple Cranberry Orange Jam is the perfect way to to do just that.

Deliciously tart with just enough sweetness and a pop of fresh orange flavor, this jam is so tasty. Like my kiddos broke out into a happy dance right there in the kitchen upon tasting, tasty. They've been happily slathering it on toast and waffles since we made it and haven't tired of it yet.

instructions

Making this jam is so easy with just 4 ingredients and about 30 minutes needed.

Combine the cranberries, sugar, juice and zest in the sauce pan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Then reduce heat and gently simmer, stirring occasionally, to allow cranberries to burst and break down. Use the back of a wooden spoon to help any stubborn berries. Continue to simmer for 20-30 minutes until thickened and jammy.

Whether to strain the jam or blend it smooth is up to your personal preference. We like the small pieces of cranberries left and the seeds aren't a bother. If you prefer a smoother consistency allow the jam to cool to room temp and then pass through a mesh strainer or blend.

equipment

There's no special equipment needed, just a medium sauce pan and a wooden spoon.

storage

Store the jam in a jar in the refrigerator. Use in 1-2 weeks.

ways to use this jam

  • as an oatmeal topping
  • on toast or muffins
  • swirled into nice cream or smoothies
  • on pancakes or waffles

Very easy recipe. I tripled the ingredients and added an extra half cup of sugar to suit my taste. This produced 3 pint and one half-pint jars.

This is my third season making the recipe-O use some for Thanksgiving dinner and put the rest in small jars to add to Christmas gifts. I make 2-3 batches and use on oatmeal, rice pudding, and English muffins!
